welcome to my {blog} site

Hi I'm Kate and this is my blogsite. After much soul searching I've decided to give up my classic website in favour of this blog format so I can stay more current with the images I'm showing. This is the place to hear about special announcements, view my most recent work and catch some sneak peeks. This site will have both professional photos from sessions and photos of my favourite models (my two daughters). So check back when you can for new posts and feel free to make any comments, I would love to hear from you.

So I figure I should give you a little background into who I am. First of all I'm NOT a writer. I am a lifestyle photographer based in Vancouver, BC. I shoot mostly on location whether that be outside or at your home. I use available light, this means that I prefer to use all natural light but if there's not enough available I have other sources. My shooting style is laid back and fun, I want to try to capture the true essence of my subjects not the portrait studio version.

A little about me. I worked as an art director in advertising for 12 years supervising too many photoshoots to count. I have two beautiful girls who keep me on my toes everyday. I hate having my photograph taken (ironic right?). I love every aspect of photography.

Future Rock Star {vancouver's fine art family photographer}

These two are going to keep their parents on their toes. I don't think I've seen so much personality squished into two little bodies as this brother and sister team. If Miss C follows her older brother's negotiating skills mum & dad are going to be in for a bumpy ride. Serious fun.

Gotcha {portraits by the sea}

This one is for the "B" family. Sometimes when a smile is hard to earn it makes it all the sweeter. Hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Happy Family {portraits by the sea}

It's wonderful when siblings get along, I didn't even have to ask these two give hugs they just went for it. Enjoy your sneak peek "J" family.

5 Daughters!! {portraits by the sea}

After spending much of the time chasing small children around the beach it was an absolute pleasure to meet the "K" family. Five beautiful daughters and one of the best behaved dogs that I've come across made for one of the easiest shoots I've ever had.

Double the Fun {portraits by the sea}

These twin boys were seriously so much fun!!! They are non-stop and are definately keeping their mum on her toes. Enjoy your sneak peek.

1st Shoot {portraits by the sea}

Day one of the Harmony Arts Festival Portraits by the Sea and I had the pleasure of meeting the "M" family for the first of my shoots. These guys were game for anything which made our time together tons of fun. Here's a couple of sneak peeks for you guys, and don't worry I remember you asked for the the kids to be in black & white but I just couldn't resist showing these in colour first.

Sneak Peek {vancouver's fine art family photographer}

I had a really great time down at the beach playing with these guys. I hope everyone enjoyed their slurpees. The rest of your photos will be ready soon.

3's Company {vancouver's fine art family photographer}

Here's a sneak peek for the J family. You guys rocked it!

I love this series, little Miss "O" doesn't believe in kissing boys (any boys, including daddy). So when she layed this one on him you can see the suprise in his face.

14 and Fabulous {vancouver's fine art portrait photographer}

How about this for a kick ass 14th birthday party. A makeover party held at the super cool supernova salon with a professional make up artist followed by your very own photo shoot. With that on the table I think maybe I wouldn't mind turning 14 again. Thanks for having me girls I had a great time.

Happy birthday "M" you'll be getting the rest of your photos soon.

She's Gonna be a Heartbreaker {vancouver's fine art child photographer}

I defy anyone to look into this little strawberry blonde's beautiful green eyes and come out unaffected. With just the right balance or shy and sweet she's going to break hearts where ever she goes.

Pick One {vancouver's fine art baby photographer}

E's parents just wanted one portrait to put on her christening invitation, but with so many smiling faces how could you pick just one.

Quiet, Baby Sleeping {vancouver's fine art newborn photographer}

No matter how many newborn babies I see I can never get over how tiny there are. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that we were once all this size.

Three Times the Fun {vancouver's fine art family photographer}

I've had the pleasure of photographing "L" before but this time he came back with his two cousins. As we are a houseful of girls my husband is never happier than when a group of little boys arrive at the studio. I think it's because it gives him the opportunity to show his toy cars and trains to an audience that truly appreciates them.
